SPRING PICNIC SPRING PICNIC SPRING PICNIC

Don’t forget the picnic! This Saturday, April 28 at high noon. This year the picnic is at Downey Park in Orlando. It is at the intersection of Dean Road and Colonial Drive (Highway 50). We will be at the first pavilion. Be sure to bring a chair, some good stories (hams ALWAYS have a story!) and an appetite. Cindy says she ordered 300,000 hot dogs so be hungry! There will also be a couple of burgers hi. Even though it is a park, they don’t allow pets to roam so promise your precious pooch you will bring them a snack and try not to look at their sad eyes when you sneak out. There will be a few “door” prizes too. If you are planning to attend but haven’t previously responded, be sure to contact Mort and Roberta Cohen at WA2ARS@aol.com or 407-814-0434. AR

LICENSE UPGRADE CLASSES

While at the picnic, try to corner Bob, W2BZY or Joe, W0JO if you are interested in upgrade classes. There is also a possibility that they will run some weekend, high intensity sessions prior to the test sessions. Let them know your level of interest and what will fit with you so they can plan the next quarter’s activities. AR

FIELD DAY FIELD DAY FIELD DAY

The annual Field Day event is just around the corner. Peter (LetsGetThoseQSOs), AI4KM, will be chairing the event for the OARC but will not be at the picnic. While he is off touring, make your plans to participate this year. Rumor has it that there will be air conditioning! Let Peter (AI4KM@cfl.rr.com) or one of the club officers know if you are interested. ((P.S. You get free food!!)) AR

OARC DIGITAL REPEATER

Bob, W2BZY and his intrepid crew of communications cronies have had a flurry of activity. The 2 meter and 70 cm machines are up, 1.2GHz is almost ready. The footprint has been checked and as a result an investigation into a second set is underway. This would expand the digital capabilities out to Volusia county and other outlying areas! MTF. AR
