The members of the Orlando Amateur Radio Club take great pride in planning for the future of amateur radio and preserving the history of technology. We will do this by recruiting, training and helping committed hams to carry on the tradition of amateur radio. We commit to using our network of technical resources to provide equipment, skilled operators and emergency services when called upon by local authorities in time of need to assist and protect the citizens in the communities in which we live and serve.
The membership also works towards promoting amateur radio and creating a comfortable opportunity for people to work with others to share information, best practices and ideas as technology changes in the future.
The Orlando Amateur Radio Club is striving to make Orlando ham radio's largest hamfest and computer show. We see our membership working with area clubs, businesses, ham enthusiasts and volunteers to create a hamfest experience for not just hams, but their family members alike. We plan to become ham radio's leading hamfest and vacation destination within the next five years by networking and combining our skills with other businesses, clubs and organizations.

The Orlando Amateur Radio Club, with the club call of W4PLB, is the largest and oldest amateur radio club in Central Florida with consistently over 300 members. We are an American Radio Relay League, (ARRL) Special Service Club, and offer many outlets for your amateur radio enjoyment and growth. We actively support Orange County ARES/RACES and Skywarn as well as several community service agencies. To keep members informed, a "mostly" monthly e-newsletter is sent out that includes meeting information, items of interest and important announcements.
To promote amateur radio, the OARC offers classes for all levels of amateur radio license from Technician to Amateur Extra. By acknowledging the obvious benefits of upgrading, we support and promote the advancement of the amateur radio community licensees by offering these theory classes. Contact Bob, W2BZY, for info on our upcoming classes. Testing is also provided on a monthly basis prior to the general membership meeting at the William Beardall Senior Citizen's Center. See our links page for online internet testing sites.
Annual events sponsored by the OARC include the Orlando HamCation® which is sponsored and financially supported by the OARC, whose members contribute their time and effort in promoting a high quality hamfest. Other Central Florida clubs generously give their assistance in the operation and planning of the HamCationsm. Second only to Dayton , this is the largest hamfest in the southeastern United States . If you are visiting the Orlando area during the HamCationsm in middle February, please drop by and enjoy the show. We love to have new visitors and guests.
An online application form is available here for those who are interested in joining Central Florida 's largest ham radio club. Our membership application page contains the same information in html format.
We hope you will enjoy your visit here and that you'll be pleased to return. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or concerns, please contact any of the OARC officers or Board members.
